Apex Microtechnology's MP104, a 10 A, 160 V Dual Channel Inkjet Printer Driver

The MP104 is a high voltage, high output current, dual channel power amplifier targeted for piezo devices used to drive inkjet printer nozzles. Based on the Apex MP103, this next generation hybrid references the output to ground and not the negative supply rail, which eliminates the need for a high current negative supply while reducing the requirements for expensive power supplies. Total voltage supply operation is a maximum of 180V with a low current negative supply (=100mA) for output signal quality, and output current is >10A peak per channel when maintaining the safe operating area (SOA). The MP104 also has an extended maximum allowable internal power dissipation of 100W per channel; enhanced circuitry to provide balanced performance in each channel; and a reduction in crosstalk.
