Apex Microtechnology Expands Power Operational Amplifier Family with Three New Compact High-Performance Devices
TUCSON, Arizona, U.S.A. – August 6, 2026 – Apex Microtechnology today announced the release of three new precision power operational amplifiers—the PA167, PA168, and PA169—expanding our Precision IC portfolio with additional high-performance amplifier options in our compact 20 mm × 20 mm PQ package. These new devices deliver up to 20% higher thermal performance than previous generations while offering a broader range of current capability. Available in both standard and A-grade versions, the PA167, PA168, and PA169 give engineers greater flexibility to design high-density power systems without sacrificing board space or performance.
"The PA167, PA168, and PA169 represent the next evolution of our PQ amplifier family, giving designers higher thermal performance and a broader range of current capabilities while maintaining the compact form factor our customers rely on," said Jens Eltze, Director of Business Development at Apex Microtechnology. "Whether customers need a single-channel solution optimized for higher output current or a dual-channel amplifier for high-density designs, this family provides the flexibility and performance required for today's most demanding precision power applications."
PA167: 6A, High Density Multi-Purpose Power Amplifier IC
The PA167 is a high voltage MOSFET operational amplifier with a monolithic amplifier core designed for high density power applications with high output currents or voltages. The device is designed for output voltages up to 200V, with the PA167 providing 1A (2A in A-grade) of continuous current. Separate supplies for the amplifier core and the output stage optimize the overall power dissipation in the devices.
PA168: 12A, High Density Multi-Purpose Power Amplifier IC
The PA168 is a high voltage MOSFET operational amplifier with a monolithic amplifier core designed for high density power applications with high output currents or voltages. The device is designed for output voltages up to 205V, with the PA168 providing 4A (8A in A-grade) of continuous current. Separate supplies for the amplifier core and the output stage optimize the overall power dissipation in the devices.
PA169: 6A, Dual Channel High Power Operational Amplifier IC
The PA169 is a dual high voltage monolithic operational amplifier. The PA169 houses two independent 200V, 4A peak operational amplifier (PA167) circuits within a 52-pin QFP package. Each channel consists of a monolithic IC input stage and an accompanying MOSFET push-pull output stage. This architecture favors high density power applications with large output current or voltage swing demands.
All three devices utilize Apex's proven monolithic MOS technology and incorporate integrated protection features including temperature-compensated current limiting with over-current flag indication and amplifier disable functionality. These features help designers improve overall system reliability while lessening the need for external protection circuitry.
Housed in a compact 20 mm × 20 mm PQ package, the expanded PQ family enables designers to maximize board real estate while delivering the voltage, current, and thermal performance required for demanding applications. Typical applications include high-density voltage and current sources, electrostatic transducers, beam and mirror deflection systems, deformable mirror focusing, piezoelectric positioning, and other precision motion control applications where compact size, high-voltage operation, and reliable power delivery are essential.
